ABOUT

ABOUT

The historic wine and olive oil Farm of Vegi is considered a referential point in the renowned area of the Chianti Classico Gallo Nero, and has been so for centuries.

The estate, which also includes a medieval Villa and several other buildings (opening for guests in 2025), is located about halfway between Florence and Siena, a stone's throw from Castellina in Chianti and San Gimignano. Lying in a dominant position on a ridge surrounded by rolling hills that frame it in the typical Tuscan landscape, it was called "the golden basin" for its happy exposure and for its particular winemaking vocation.

It offers an ideal starting point to discover the Tuscany attractions.

An ideal place to relax at the infinity pool, to take a walk through the vineyards and explore the surrounding woods, to taste the fine Vegi wines,  in combination with typical local food, or to participate in one of the pizza evenings in the old wood-burning ovens.

The Farm

Vegi has been producing wines for centuries and it is this tradition and the knowledge of winemaking that you taste in the remarkable white wine, a Chianti Classico, a Riserva and the prize winning Vin Santo.

Chianti Classico - 1 Klein.jpeg

Chianti Classico

Classic appearance, almost transparent, of Sangiovese, it is fresh, well stylised, of traditional origin, of medium thickness and good balance.

Clean and pleasant wine that on the nose recalls mint caramel (we all remember it!) and licorice with a pinch of rum and coffee with an elegant note of chestnut. The aromas take the path of small berries and stony and earthy accents, accompanying a sip, defined, fragrant and vital, and, above all, sapid capable of calling one immediately afterwards.

Ethereal aromas and elegant flavours. Joyful, savory and persuasive, with a color that, more than other vintages, bears witness to the contribution of Canaiolo Nero and Ciliegiolo. The excellent structure gives the wine pleasantness and grace.

Tasting it, one appreciates breadth and persistence, aromas: vinous and ethereal.

In the mouth hard balanced between them and balance between softness and hardness equally guaranteed. Fresh acidity, pleasant to salivation, an already well-defined tannin: dense and pleasant both to the touch and to the taste. A wine with exceptional dynamics

Riserva

It's strong point is the dense mass of its extracts: the concentration is impressive, therefore the taste-aromatic persistence of its flavor.

The gustatory balance is also qualifying: a slight softness that perfectly contrasts the excellent acid nerve and a tannic, slightly bitter structuring cap.

Firm tannin and at the same time delicate, dry, fruity, tending towards velvety but without renouncing the decisive hints of the typical spices of

Sangiovese from the land of the Black Rooster. Taste of an original softness which is always a pleasure to savor such a profound balsamic scent with its rich softness of ripe black cherry.

Vin Santo

An extraordinary wine from other times with an unattainable charm. A sweet wine that knows how to be first of all a wine, with its sweet-acid contrasts and its smooth and agile sip. A wine suitable for accompanying the entire meal, as well as pairing with a dessert. A flagship of Italian wine production.

Olio d'oliva

Slightly deep straw yellow colour, floral aromas of wild rose and ripe pear. In the mouth, a persistent and pleasant acidity with notes of cedar are the prelude to an aftertaste of a mature wine that gradually releases the secret of its aging in steel. With a strong, slightly alcoholic flavour, it reveals the marriage between the four grapes of which it is composed: Trebbiano Toscano with its body, Malvasia del Chianti with its savory and spicy grace, Chardonnay with its ethereal and carefree delicacy and the Souvignon Blanc with its final touch of fullness upon tasting

The unusual mix makes it a surprising wine both for its aromatic definition where the imprint of Sauvignon emerges in the background preceded by notes of fruits and white flowers, and for the pleasant verve expressed on the palate, with a balanced, intense and coherent flavour.
